When we first built our resort along Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, we faced several challenges. First and foremost, we wanted to create a resort that would be beautiful enough to fit the natural beauty found on the lake. This is not an easy task when the lake itself is made up of waters that seem to be surreal and it is surrounded by majestic looking mountains. Our second task was figuring out how to keep the guests comfortable. This meant ensuring they had all of the luxuries of home, which is not always easy when the power supply in this area is not always reliable. It is why we have invested a lot of our time in searching through an endless amount of home generator reviews. It is why our guests enjoy only the best when other parts of Lake Atitlan may be suffering without power.
Lake Atitlan is a natural lake that was formed by an eruption of one of the three volcanos over 84,000 years ago. It is located in the Guatemalan Highlands and it is a part of the Sierra Madre mountain range. It is the deepest lake in Central America with depths of about 1,120 feet. This lake has earned the title of being one of the most beautiful lakes in the world because of its surroundings and the way the fog can sometimes linger over it making it appear to be a world that is separate from our world. When the fog lifts, the water is clear and still enough to reflect the sky, the mountains, volcanos, and more, which ensures that it is always changing.
We have put a lot of effort into our resort, both inside and out. Our rooms are designed with comfort and luxury in mind. We have televisions and internet access, refrigerators and a variety of amenities in each suite to ensure you have no reason to ever leave your room if you do not want to. However, if you do decide to venture out and explore the rest of our resort, you will find a lot of fun things to explore, as if the lake itself isn’t enough of an adventure.
Throughout history, hurricanes and other issues have contributed a lot of damage to the Lake Atitlan area. We have been lucky enough to bounce back from it. It is now easy to travel into the area and enjoy all that we have to offer our guests. This has not happened overnight, but has taught us more about how to make our resort great for our guests. We understand that the threat of bad weather is never far away, and our power supply is not always reliable. However, to help with this, we keep a generator set at all times to ensure that even if Mother Nature throws a curve ball our way, our guests will be kept comfortable. Our backup power supply is the best generator for home that we could find. We did it so that you know that bad weather will not hinder your visit with us. Are you ready to explore what we have to offer and see paradise firsthand? If so, we invite you to come stay with us a while on the beautiful Lake Atitlan.
Exploring a foreign country can be a daunting task, especially for those that do not know the native language. However, with a little enthusiasm, and maintaining a calm demeanor, you should get around just fine. Perhaps you’ll find some of the “universal language” handy when getting around. Remember a smile and some hand gestures can go along way. Simply showing an effort to communicate with locals will immediately set you apart from the other “gringos.”
We already have a Universal Language namely English, we have universal hand signs and warnings that can be used in different fields. Now, people are innovating the World Wide Web and social media’s with a universal language known to all as “Emoticons”. Emoticons are characters that is used in sequences to express facial expressions or a writer’s mood, just by smiling, pointing and the use of hand signals. These can be of use when traveling around Guatemala.
Parentheses were often dropped altogether in a style. An example of it is the long face (^_________________^) by using lots of underscores the emoticon was born. This was namely and commonly used on blogs and in IM chat rooms to emphasize that the user is “extremely happy”. Because these emoticons characteristics take up so much more space than usual, they are often regarded as more “spammy” than the others.
After some time, people began to get more creative with portraying what they wanted with a horizontal face. Dashes were given to show contempt (-_-) or sleepiness [combined, we get “unimpressed”].
Today, people are wildly creative with their emoticons with new symbols and languages beginning to appear on the web. We will only see more creative and cooler smileys! This article is the place to find them.
These are the other emoticons that you can use:
What WAs ThAT: ∑(゜Д゜;)

Lake Atitlan in Guatemala is an untouched area that holds more beauty than most people would ever imagine seeing in a world that is filled with tall buildings and busy lifestyles. This makes it a popular destination for people all around the world. People visit it to see another way of life. They visit to explore the world as it used to be. A world before bustling cities. However, because it is a rather large lake, people often choose to explore it via boats. There are a lot of boating tours and private boats out on the beautiful lake at any given time. Some of the majestic Mayan towns along the banks can only be reached by boats. This poses a threat to the natural environment surrounding Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.
What’s The Risk?
The Mayan’s who call the lake home hold true to time honored traditions. Women wear traditional clothing, farming is their way of life, and they work hard to keep the area beautiful and mostly untouched. For this, Lake Atitlan has been called, “The world’s last Eden”. It is shaped by the volcanoes that surround it at three points, its water is untouched by the ocean, and its deepest point is 1,120 ft. This all contributes to it being a home to wildlife as well as the Mayan’s who love it.
As the popularity of this tourist destination increases and more boating takes place on the water, there is a risk for oil leaks and other issues which may contaminate the area. Therefore, tour boat operators and owners, as well as the people who call it home, go to great links to ensure that their boats have quality parts at all times.
As a motor boat runs across the lake, there are obviously issues that can come up. To keep the area beautiful debris and oil spillage can cause massive problems. That is why it is recommended that boaters use quality boating parts to protect themselves, the environment, and this very special way of life. Some of the best boating parts include things like marine batteries and a marine battery switch that offer a charge that will last over a longer period of time, so that you do not have to call for help when you are out on the water and bring more boats to your location.
However, the simple life around Lake Atitlan, Guatemala does not always mean that people consider marine batteries as an important part of life on the water. Some people opt to use car batteries instead of deep cycle batteries. This causes problems in more ways than you may realize, because a car battery is built to do a different job. They are designed to crank and get an immediate charge from the vehicle’s alternator. Boats do not provide this immediate charge at all times, so the risk of a dead battery on the lake increases dramatically. Boaters need to thoroughly read through marine battery reviews to make sure they don’t risk getting stuck out on the lake with the wrong battery.
Do You Run Only the Best?
The world needs more places like Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, but each year there are less places that hold true to the way that nature designed it to be. With more and more tourists visiting this place of peace and tranquility, the risk is great that people and boats will destroy it. Upgrading the boat you use, will go a long way in preserving it so that the Mayan’s future generations and other visitors will be able to enjoy the majestic beauty for many years. Are you willing to make sure your boat is up for the job?
Fresh water and a fresh water supply are key to any area’s survival. How often do you really consider the water that flows into your home? Do you ever stop to think when you take a long shower that every time you turn on the water you are depleting the water supply in your area? If not, you are normal. It is something that not many do think about. However, if you live in or you are visiting an area such as Guatemala, you probably should think about the water a little more.
Think about the many new homes, resorts, hotels, and businesses popping up in Guatemala. Tourists come from everywhere to see the big cities and beautiful beaches. Tourists love the food and the overall atmosphere of the area. As more tourists hear about the area and all that it has to offer, more hotels, resorts, restaurants and other tourist friendly accommodations are popping up.
More swimming pools are being filled and more showers are being taken. Millions of gallons of water could be used on any given day by the residents and the tourists. This may not take a toll or even be noticeable in today’s world, but what will Guatemala and other rising, popular tourist areas become tomorrow? Twenty years from now?
What Can Be Done to Help?
In areas like Guatemala, the tourists coming in is great for the economy. More jobs open up to local residents, things that impact their way of life is more talked about in other areas, and even more tourists will come. It is wonderful, but it does bring risks, such as a water shortage that could occur many years from now and affect future generations.
One of the simplest things that can have a major impact on preserving water in not only Guatemala, but other places like it includes doing away with the traditional shower heads that are in the many hotels and resorts around the area. For instance, in Guatemala, many resorts offer the double shower head, which use twice the amount of water that other shower heads may use. They do it to provide visitors with a relaxing, spa experience in their resorts. It adds water pressure to a shower, but it comes with a cost.
A Better Alternative
If water issues are a concern, which they should be, doing away with the double shower heads and shower heads that do not restrict the water will go a long way in preserving water. All that resorts need to do is consider purchasing one of the best shower head for low water pressure or a low flow shower head.
These shower heads restrict the amount of water that comes out, but still provide the guests with an excellent shower experience. A lot of these types of shower heads will have a pressurized chamber to restrict the outflow while providing powerful jets of water. Hotel and resort guests will never realize that they are helping the area maintain its water supply, but they will rave about the excellent water pressure and how relaxing their shower was while they were visiting your resort.
If all you want out of your resort and hotel is happy guests, why not achieve that and preserve the water for future generations of guests? It will be the best thing you have ever done for the area you call home.
